partnership work

The Green Partnership was originally formed to facilitate the realization of an observation tower, mounting of owl nesting box, establishment of a multifunctional path and closing of car traffic on a forest road. A range of projects was initiated in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen, with the purpose of enhancing the nature value in the forests. Read more about the restoration of river Øle Å here, and the other projects here. These projects are conducted in dialogue with the Green Partnership. The Green Partneship meets twice a year to discuss the projects.

The establishment of a fallow deer grazing enclosure led to the closing of car traffic on one of the traversing forest roads. The area is still accessible for forest visitors, and a handicap friendly observation tower is constructed inside the enclosure, with the view to a grassland and a large bog.

Nesting boxThe island Bornholm hosts a large portion of the Danish population of boreal owls (Aegolius funereus). The boreal owl lives in Scandinavia in large coniferous forest, and has benefitted from the extensive planting of Norway spruce on Bornholm, where it nests in black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius) holes. The black woodpecker has however disappeared from Bornholm, and nesting boxes are thus mounted for the boreal owls. In Poulsker and Bodilsker Plantations this has been done through the Green Partnership.

A public path is traversing Poulsker Plantation along Øle Å. This public access to the privately owned forest was enlarged through the Green Partnership by establishing an additional path called Terrænstien. The new path is open for walking, horse riding and mountain bike riding.
